BIO

I am an Argentinian photographer currently based in New York City. I was part of the Creative Practices Program at the International Center of Photography (ICP).  Back in my hometown, Buenos Aires, I studied Film Production at ENERC and photography and I worked as a still photographer in music videos and TV shows such as Dias de Gallos for HBO Latin America.

My practice revolves mainly around portraiture though I also photograph landscapes, interiors and still life as well. I like using analog photography to play with the idea of physical materiality and make interventions on prints and negatives. I also work with digital collage techniques.

I am currently working on a series of collages that depicts female figures juxtaposed with landscapes and cityscapes. The figures are both monumental and fragmented, reflecting ongoing tension around the role of women in today’s society.

I am part of Small Table Collective.

MY WORK

I have a background in theater and films. Both forms of art taught me the importance of collaboration but also the magic around fiction and especially around lighting and how we can paint impressions and feelings with it.

I make portraits of people that inspire me, whether they are friends or artists I know or people with an interesting background. I find myself making them a bit physically uncomfortable to generate that oddness and uncanny feeling I like my pictures to convey.

This uncanniness is also found in my collages and interventions. Making marks on my negatives or cutting and pasting prints is something I use to create new visual worlds.

I find inspiration in movies, music and theater. Through my process I find myself sometimes thinking and then creating but mostly it is the other way around. I find joy in the impulse, in the automatic, just like a child does and I also use childrens’ tools to make my interventions.

Lately I have been translating my work into a more commercial form. Always interested in fashion, I like collaborating with other artists to create impactful, surreal, dark images that suggest a feeling to the viewer and moreover, that catches the attention of people in this era that is overwhelmingly full of images.

ESP. BIO
